Bedlam Farm will always be my Magic Kingdom, my Leap Of Faith, my coming of age. I wrote six books there and two children’s books and took thousands of photos there, and met Maria there, and buried Rose and Orson and Izzy there and sent Elvis off to market, and learned how to take care of a farm, and to take care of myself and lost my family there and lost my mind there and got it back there. It was a magical brew, the farm, of beauty and inspiration, terror and challenge, liberation and self-awareness. This is what I saw every morning when I sat down to write, and what can I tell you, but that place is magical, it is creative, it lit the creative spark in me, in Maria, in everyone who comes near it. Some people can see it, some people can’t. Someone is on the way to the farm who sees it, who wants it as badly as I do, I know that and it makes me smile. Bedlam Farm will always be my Magic Kingdom.
