Morning After: Wind, Cold

Wind, Cold
Wind, Cold

We woke up this morning to shrieking winds – the house is freezing – but just a few inches of snow. The brunt of the storm struck South and East of us and I feel for people without power. The wind is bitter and intense, pushing snow through the bottom of the back door into the kitchen. We have power and the animals are fine but we see we will be installing some more storm windows next year. I hoped to take some photos of the snow but when I got up, it was all over. We’re cranking up the wood stove and the fireplace. When the wind dies down, the house will warm up.

We opened up Rocky’s stall for the donkeys and they seemed snug last night. The barn cats are luxuriating in their basement resort, resting up and eating dry cat food mixed with leftover salmon. Today, reading and trying to stay warm.
