Sheep shearing is an art form. We have sheep because of Red and his need to work with them and my enjoyment of that, and also because Maria plans to sell the wool as Bedlam Farm yarn. Details will be on her website. Jim was done in a half an hour. He lay his boards down, plugged in his shearers and handled the sheep with confidence and grace. We are pleased to see Ma, the big woolly sheep who looks like a bear, shorn. She must have been uncomfortable.
Red was, as always, impressive. He came into the pen, lay down, held the sheep in place and didn’t move for nearly an hour. Jim and I are going to get together and work sheep with our dogs. Jim is a Buddhist – he wears meditation beads when he shares and his calm and gentleness calmed the sheep greatly. He was a pleasure to watch and to meet.
Come and see a video of our shearing.
