A new person has entered our lives, a new spirit in the form of Ajay Rubin, a pilgrim who drifted into Washington County from Pennsylvania and wants to find his way somewhere in rural life – a farm of his own, like his friend Jenna Woginrich of Cold Antler Farm. Ajay is looking for a place in the world, and that is a connection. He will be caretaking our new home until we can move in in late October and has taken on some hard work – stacking firewood, helping Ben take down the collapsed barn, helping us move. Ajay is a free spirit and a hard worker – a spiritual geek, I suspect – and I suspect he is one of those magical helpers Joseph Campbell writes about, sometimes taking the form of animals, sometimes people. He and Red hit my world about the same time. You’ll be seeing more of Ajay.
