Wait For Me. We’ll Get There

by Jon Katz
Wait For Me

Wait for me. When I am angry. Wait for me. When I am afraid. Wait for me, when I forget that the heart is like this: glorious and ruined once it has seen the divine beauty at the heart of the world. When you know that it can never go back.

Wait for me. When you watch their news and hear their stories and believe the world is without love and hope.

Wait for me. When you feel alone and disconnected. When they tell you to be afraid. When they sell fear like candy in all of their stories.

And wait for me. When I disappoint. When I forget. When I fail to be what I wish to be, what I mean to be.

Wait for me. When others tell you what to do, how to live. When they make you feel small and frightened.

Wait for me. And I will wait for you. We’ll get there.

Like lovers circling in their being, needing to kiss again. And again.
