I love photographing clotheslines. People are often taken aback when I knock on their door and ask to photograph their clothesline, so I was delighted to see Jenna Woginrich’s clothesline when I visited her farm Saturday. Her clothesline has special character. I love the axe and the strong and symmetrical pattern of the things she was hanging out to dry. Except for a detail or two, the clothesline could have dated back 80 years.
There are few clotheslines hanging but they speak to time and place, beautiful things in their own right. They tell their own stories.
