Put the first coat of paint on the Nasty Pantry at New Bedlam Farm. Maria scrubbed the floors did the ceiling, I did the walls (pausing frequently to photograph of course. We have to paint the doors, and we want to paint the pipes a different color. It is amazing to see the transformation and we love doing it together. I went out to various farm stands and whipped up a good country lunch – fresh corn, tuna on freshly-baked bread, fresh blueberries and peaches. We sat on the front porch and waved at trucks going by, including Jenna Woginrich from Cold Antler Farm. Could not have a better neighbor than Jenna. Some of the neighbors came over one asked permission to hunt for deer in the fall.
We granted it happily. Good hunters are ethical, careful and valuable in the country. Our neighbor to the North came by to tell us he has two pit bulls in his back yard but he said we didn’t need to worry about them, as he keeps them in a fenced in area and supervises them closely. We are not worried.
I’m trying something new tomorrow, doing the first video Bedlam Farm Journal from the New Bedlam Farm. I will still include text but I want to tell the story of the day at the new farm visually, a small film. I am always excited to try something new, to put it out there and how it loves. Or doesn’t. I feel badly for creative people who can’t share their work. Tough to grow.
