Video. In Honor of “The Story Of Rose.” Red’s Tribute

by Jon Katz
A tribute to Rose

Today is the publication date for “The Story Of Rose: A Man And His Dog,” my first e-book original and a tribute to my wonderful dog Rose, who died last year. I wondered how I could offer a tribute to Rose on this day, and it occurred to me there was no better day than to take Red out to work with the sheep and do the work – and make a video – as a tribute to Rose. Can’t imagine she would have wanted any other tribute.

I took Red out to the gates and meadow where Rose and I did so much of our work together – there are several videos from there in “The Story Of Rose’s” enhanced version. She was so much in my head that I referred to Red as Rose a couple of times – I left that in because it happened. Red is a very different dog than Rose – he loves people as much as chasing sheep it seems (we will both be at Battenkill Books (518 677-2515)  in Cambridge, N.Y. tonight at 6 p.m. to kick-off the e-book and talk about it with Connie Brooks who owns the bookstore. Lenore is coming also.) I had an extraordinary online book party and signing on my Facebook page last night. It  began at 11 p.m. and is still going on. According to Facebook stats, more than 5,000 people all over the world were watching and participating.  I’ll write more about that amazing experience shortly. But I wanted to kick off this important day for me by offering a tribute to Rose and this was the best thing I could think of. Come and see. Rose to Red, this is the continuum of life.

And thanks for sharing in this with me. “The Story Of Rose” is an important step for me. The e-book costs $2.99 and is available on Amazon, Bn.com, Ibooks, through independent bookstores via Google, and is sold in the Kindle, Nook, Ipad, Iphone and on personal computers through various software and apps.
