I am happy to be doing videos again. I will not do them every day, but when I have an idea that is apart from what I normally photograph and write about. I see them as small films, windows into my world. A new creative direction, a new way to tell my stories. On these crisp and beautiful summer mornings, I am inspired to get up and refresh my inner spirit. Red has helped. He and Lenore and I do our rounds together as the sun comes up.
This morning was special. Soul food. I woke up feeling overwhelmed about selling the farm and moving to the new one – we are thinking of dropping the price again – and I sought some nourishment with my video camera, a creative tool I love, not as much as my camera, but still. I liked the mix I saw and recorded. Chickens coming towards me. Dogs waiting to come in the house. Red eager to work. Simon braying, not just once but twice, his call to life. The barn cats even got into the movie. This did refresh me, ground me, touch me. Seeing Simon greet us. Watching Red’s spectacular, almost ethereal outruns with which he greets the day.
Come and see. I hope it refreshes you. It refreshed me. It is a gift from us to you, hopefully a reminder of the simple and beautiful things that are not on their news but are big and important stories nonetheless. Light and beauty and hope and promise lives and thrives in the world.
