Rocky was fairly out of it by the end. Ken’s great riding dog Tipper came out and sat next to us the whole time. Like Lenore, she is one of those great dogs who can go anywhere and gets what’s happening. It felt good to see Rocky get his hooves trimmed. This is not a rescue creature. He has never been abused or neglected. He knows his pasture and feels safe there, but it is rewarding to care for him, and to see him attachment to people re-emerge. I imagine – as does Ken – that he is aware of Florence’s absence, but she was 103 when she died and not able to spent much time with him for some time.

We look forward to moving to this farmhouse and adding Rocky to our community of very wonderful animals. The gift is all to me and to Maria.
