At dusk, the chickens file into the barn and circle and cluck and eventually, each hops up onto the roost. Oprah, Shirley, Freaky and Fran. They make soft and persistent clucking sounds. They groom themselves, wipe their beaks, settle in. A peaceful and restful time for these industrious and voracious creatures. Good night.
