I think Florence’s spirit remains in this house. She died last year at the age of 103, insisting she remain in her house and taking care of herself. She survived a fall down the basement stairs and only when confined to a wheelchair did she lose her great spirit and pass on. I believe her ghost and spirit lives in this house. There are messages from her everywhere, in the bottles and things she collected, the thoughts and ideas she left behind. I love this particular message from her, taped to the kitchen door. She is letting us know that there is work to be done in this house, in this life, and anyone willing to do it can have a good time with her.
You know she was not into whining, struggle-stories, passivity, or lamentations. You know she did not blame politicians, the economy, Wall Street or things today for her problems. I would like to have had a good time with Florence. The people around her all say that they did.
