Maria and I went over to see our friend Jenna Woginrich at Cold Antler Farm early this morning (she has an all-day Chicken Workshop going on there – there is always something going on there) and we picked out three chickens. I don’t remember exactly what kind they are. Maria gave them names right away – Maude, Shiva and Daisy. They are quite colorful and Jenna thought they would be great for photography. She is right. We saw Jenna’s rabbits, chickens, goats, horse and honking geese.
I admire Jenna. She has so much energy, passion, intelligence. She has mastered more subjects at age 29 then I have yet to encounter, and she has written three books before I had written one. I am always telling her she is doing too much, but when I see her on the farm, I think she is doing just what she ought to be doing. She is very happy there, very much in her life. She is authentic, and she puts her life right out there for everybody to chew on, and I know that can be a difficult thing. Lucky to have her nearby.
The chickens are staying in the barn for a few days until they get settled. Keeping Fran in her own space until they all get used to one another. Another chapter, life goes on, and on.
