I am excited to announce the Hubbard Hall Writer’s Workshop, beginning this June with a small number of gifted writers who want to work me creating a book/plays/online writing/ about the challenge, joy, adventure and drama of rural life. I’ve learned in my past workshop’s that open enrollment doesn’t often work. So we will be screening applicants and meeting with them to help choose people who are motivated to share their stories and put them together. Hubbard Hall, the wonderful cultural center in Cambridge, N.Y., is hosting the workshop and may want to turn some of these stories into plays.
My wish is that these stories will be good enough to put together as a book. We will be meeting regularly, working together and supporting one another in assembling these stories. The workshop will go on for awhile, as long as it takes to produce some great and telling stories about rural life, generally ignored by publishing and the media. Details on the workshop here. Please do not contact me directly, thanks. There is an application fee and a charge for the workshop (I am not accepting any money for teaching it. Hubbard Hall is a very worthy place). I’m excited.
