In photography, I am always surprised by how different lenses are. Point-and-shoots are wonderful, but I have yet to find any small camera that can surprise me with such emotional and detailed views of the same thing. I rarely use my Canon 100mm macro lens for outdoor shots, and I should. You have to get very close and lie down, often on unpleasant ground, but you are rewarded with perspectives like this, one of our three chickens eating birdseed. Somehow emotional, challenging, even disturbing.
