Winston went after three people this week – Maria, a friend and farmer’s wife and also someone helping take care of the farm while we are on book tour. We got the message while on the way to the Clifton Park Library and then after the talk and signing I came home and killed him, as humanely and quickly as was possible.
Nuff said, really. I feel strongly that aggressive animals ought not be given away, and I feel even more strongly that there will not be any aggressive animals on Bedlam Farm. I hoped he might settle down, as I was fond of him and loved photographing him, and appreciated his posturing and Churchillian demeanor. It was very meaningful to be able to make this decision with Maria, together.
