Rose And The Lame Sheep. Video

Rose And The Lame Sheep

Rose holding the sheep for Maria to look at

Filling the water tanks, Maria and I both noticed one of the ewes spending the summer at Bedlam Farm from Darryl Kuehne’s farm in Vermont was limping. So I took Rose out and asked her to bring the sheep into a corner by the gate where we could see what was going on. The video shows how valuable Rose is at doing a chore like that, and how skilled, and we were able to spot the ewe – no. 0001, who is liming on her left foreleg. Could be hoof, or maybe a sore leg. Usually it’s a hoof problem.

I called Darryl Kuehne tonight and he’ll come out shortly, perhaps to take the ewe home if she doesn’t improve in the next few days. Animals are a responsibility. I believe they each have to be eyeballed every day, along with the water and the grass and the fences. I know many farmers survive without border collies, but the video will show why I can’t imagine life here without her.

Come and see along with us, Rose and the lame sheep:
