I could take a million photos of the faces in the Argyle, N.Y. Fourth of July parade. They are resolute, show much character and purpose. Argyle is a very American farming town beset by the calamity facing rural life everywhere in America. But it is not a political or complaining place. The parade is nonetheless a rallying point, an affirmation. It is taken seriously.
