Marketing has become a substantial part of every writer’s life, more than ever, and I’m game. I believe writers should understand the marketplace, and find their place in it. My children’s book “Meet The Dogs of Bedlam Farm” is coming out in two months. Library Journal has called it “gorgeous and heartwarming,” and that was nice. So we are starting to think about publicity and Q & A’s and all that stuff people don’t think about when they think of a writer’s life. I am acquiring the tools to market my work – blog, Ipad, camera, You Tube, Video, Iphone – and learning how to use them, and it not a chore for me, but an exciting chance to learn something new and try to master it.
I had to get a shot of the four dogs off quickly this morning, so I went out for my daily quick check of the grounds in the morning – I check on the barns, the donkeys, the barn cats, the Studio Barn, and then go get the dogs to feed them. They are usually out in the fenced area, and I figured I might as well get off a quick “photoshoot” and try and catch it on video. My camera isn’t quite working yet in conjunction with You Tube so I used the Iphone. I love seeing my shadow in the roll, it adds an odd dimension and the dogs, as usual, know their stuff. You can see for yourself (I love saying that.). Then I did have a spiritual morning, sitting by the fire with Maria, drinking coffee, planning the day. I want to write a kid’s books about the animals going online.
