The old tractors and trucks that line the roads and farms of Washington County bear witness to the life here, to the farms and farmers and families that they served until they were abandoned, rusting, behind barns and old sheds. To me, they are ghosts, and they tell stories, and are eerie and beautiful and haunting in their own way. I hope to document some of them, and when I close my eyes, I imagine some of the stories they might tell, the stories of farms, animals, storms, life and death and so many trips to go to the dump, haul hay and firewood, grain and tools.
