December 18, 2009 – I’ve been found out. No animal is better able to take care of itself than a barn cat, but I do worry about Minnie and Mother in sub-zero weather. We put heat lamps out in the barn, and make hay igloos for them, although they never seem to use them. When it’s this cold – below zero today – I warm up the bowls and the cat food and give them some extra stuff to eat.
When it’s really cold, I give them the chance to come into the heated basement and lie on cat beds, but they never do.
