Frieda and the Daily Potholder.

by Jon Katz

When she isn’t rampaging through the woods or dragging animals or logs around, Frieda is a working girl. I went out with her for my Daily Potholder shot (replacing the Daily Egg) and I said in these words: “Frieda, we’ve got to get to work and get some shots of Maria’s potholders.” She jumped up on the wall, and put her head down on the potholder that I had placed there, and apart from a menacing glance at Mother, she held the pose while I got some shots.
This opens up all new possibilities for work, photography and potholders. I told Frieda she is a working girl now, joining my dogs in polished media whoring and photo posing. I told Maria that Frieda will sell some potholders too, I’m sure. Can’t beat a $9 work of art that is useful in the kitchen. Frieda seems to get the significance of it.
I love working dogs. The good ones always get it.
