The Public Person

by Jon Katz

It seems I am more of a public person than ever before. More e-mail. More questions. Suggestions. Photos. Links. Invitations. Offers of friendship.
More everything. I am reminded of E. B. White’s caution. There are 10,000 of you, one of me. It is not your problem, it is mine. I am thinking about. I already can’t read or answer much of the e-mail, and I certainly cannot respond to all of the questions about me, the animals, or the farm.
I am not giving up on the blog, which I love, nor on being open, within limits, about my life. I am happy my working is reaching larger audiences. I believe in being gracious. I am not giving up on the blog. It’s something for me to figure out. I will keep you posted.

Notes. Mary Kellogg’s new book “Whistling Woman” will be out later this year, before Christmas. Bedlamfarm.com is being redesigned, to make it graphically more appealing, and simpler. Fewer buttons and pages, better use of words and photos. The Farm Journal remains the core, many of the other departments will vanish, as they have all changed.
My kid’s books will start appearing early in 2011. “Rose In A Storm,” my novel, is due out next Fall. Not yet finished.
Bedlam Farm is for sale, lots of interest, nothing concrete. The Farm Journal will continue from the New Bedlam Farm, wherever that is. Rose is doing fine without sheep, very busy and healthy. Happy holiday.
