Lots of people ask me if Rose will be okay without sheep to herd. I will make sure she is. So far, she seems content to ride with me on the ATV, chase frisbees and balls, walk in the woods, and visit some neighboring farms to help out in emergencies. Rose is the dog most people ask about on this or any other book tour, and many people, especially working women, identify strongly with her. I understand the concerns about her, and also explain that in addition to her activities, I felt Rose was getting banged up working with the sheep. Lots of vet visits, bangs, bumps, kicks and sor legs. I think I will start some other kinds of training with her to make sure her transition to a different kind of dog – a continuing inspiration, for one thing – is good.
