Merry-Go-Round, Washington County Fair
August 27, 2009 — Am experimenting with alternative medicine, and finding it exciting. Trying tapping, visualization, some meditation. Tonight, a gentle doctor in a small and poor upstate town continued his energy treatments of me, including laying on of hands. A powerful experience, one I am still feeling. Went to the Washington County Fair for some night shots. Going back tomorrow with Maria.
Saturday, am giving a talk and reading w/Izzy at the Bookloft, 332 Stockbridge Road, Great Barrington, MA, 01230 (413 528-1521). In two weeks, I am returning to Massachusetts to read and talk at Barnes & Noble, Framingham, on Wednesday, September 9th.
Thursday September 10 is one of the highlights of the book tour, an appearance at 6:30 p.m. at “the best little library ever,” the Monson Free Library, 2 High Street, Monson, MA, 01057 (413 267-3866). We live in a country that bails out banks and insurance companies but tosses libraries over the side. The Monson Free Library, along with so many others, is desperately needed in its community, and needs help to stave off budget cuts and continue to operate.
Libraries are an invaluable part of our cultural fabric communities, and a country that abandons them loses some of its soul, I believe. Come and support the Monson Free Library if you can, and if you can’t, please support your own local library. People use them more than ever and need them more than ever.
