More than 200 people braved the sweltering heat to come to the Mohawk & Hudson Humane Society BBQ Fundraiser in Saratoga last night. Brad Shears welcomed the crowd, which came to support the group, meet Izzy, and hear me kickoff the “Soul Of A Dog” book tour. People came in from all over the place, including Florida. I read from the book, talked about animals and spirituality, and then we had a great Q & A discussion, which ranged from spirituality to training.
It was hot, humid, the mosquitoes were out and biting. Animal lovers don’t really care.
Izzy was his usual amazing self, greeting people, posing for photos, drawing much sympathy for his wounds. This is his work, really. It’s neat to have written a book so many people want to talk about and hear about. I also talked about my novel, “Rose In A Storm,” due out next year.
This afternoon, I talked with my editor at Holt, about the children’s books underway. Going to start on them shortly.
Saturday, the book tour moves to Manchester, Vt., 7 p.m., Northshire Books on Main Street. might bring Izzy and Lenore, if I can swing it.
