There is no color like barn red for a photo. Each new book is a benchmark of my life, an experience that marks where I am in life. “Soul Of A Dog” is a transitional book for me, the last non-fiction book for awhile, a book that is not about me, at least directly, but about the animals I have lived with, the book leading me back to fiction, where my writing soul is, in many ways, and to children’s books.
When I began writing this book my life was very different. And that is, I suppose, the point. For writers, books define us, whether we like it or not, mark our lives.
