Good morning from Frieda, Helldog

by Jon Katz

It has been weeks since Frieda ran off, tried to chase a chicken or a cat, or caused general mayhem. She is sleeping in the farmhouse, getting on with Rose, buds with Lenore and Izzy. She is a wonderful writing dog, and a loyal, good-hearted creature. More work to do, but we are getting there.

Watched some of “A Dog Year” last night. A mind-blowing experience. Jeff Bridges is wonderful, and the early grief with Devon/Orson brought me to tears, seeing it on screen. I’ll watch the rest of it with Maria later in the week. A movie is different than a book. It will air on HBO Sept. 3.
“Soul Of A Dog” comes out in three weeks. “Rose In A Storm” is awaiting the final edit. Waiting to work on two children’s books for Holt: “Lenore Finds A Friend,” and “Can Frieda Stay?”
Thinking about other changes in my life. More later.
