It’s unusual for Lenore not to be eating something. She is quite inventive that way, and out in the woods, she loves to hole up in some heavy grass and eat it. Lord knows what else she might be eating.

  So, finally, a date for the movie. September 3rd on HBO.It is strange to have a movie made about your life. Exciting, for sure, and if you are a writer, good for your books. There is another side to it. It is an invasive experience, and it is also humbling for me, because my life is so different from the time when I wrote “A Dog Year.” Orson, the dog who inspired the book, is dead, buried up in the pasture, put down after he bit three people. Many of the people who were in my life then are gone.
 I am different, and live differently.  I guess none of that really matters. A movie is a movie, and I will be on book tour while it comes out, talking about animal souls. I haven’t seen it yet, and am not sure I truly want to. I will look it, I’m sure. But it’s strange. I feel my life then was, in some ways, a fairy tale, and is only beginning to be real.
