Had a neat Father’s Day. My daughter sent me an e-card. Maria’s mother gave me $50. Maria made me a Father’s Day dinner, a veggie burger with some spaghetti squash and spinach. Good stuff.
I thought a bit about the meaning of the day, and of course such holidays are pretty forced and general things, but I do think about the importance of father’s when it comes to encouraging us to live in the world, and to give us the confidence that we can handle things.
There is no experience comparable to being a father, and no greater responsibility, as a good friend has taught and reminded me.
