June 11, 2009 – Peace is, I am coming to see, internal and not external. Before the troubled economy, and since, I know many people with money who are wretched and confused, and many people with no money who have found peace and well being. It isn’t about money. And it isn’t about strange notions of security. A generation ago, I realized that there was no security in working for other people, only some in defining your own fate and I decided to become a writer. And there is surely no security in that.
  Except there is in this way: I love what I do, and I get to tell stories, and that brings great peace and joy to me. I am working on more. Looking inward is hard. It can involve friends, therapy, meditation, reflection, a spiritual life. It is bone crunching work.
