Maria loves to brush the donkeys. The love to be brushed. These three are having an affair, just as I am with Frieda.
June 7, 2009 – Just had a visit from Harry and Joan Becker, who used to own the farm. They came by with Dot Worthington, Town Clerk and also my barber (she just celebrated her 50th wedding anniversary). They said the farm had changed quite a bit. They are also photographers and we had a good visit.
Reading Mary Oliver this morning: Came across this line:
“Would it be better to sit in silence?
To think everything, to feel everything, to say nothing?”
No, I think not. I am thinking this weekend about definition. Maria is showing me how to meditate and it is difficult. Let a lot of things rush through your mind, and let go of some.
I am determined to define myself, and my own life. Wall Street will not do it, or a media that feeds people bad news like a drug dealer feeds crack addicts. Nor will people with their ideas about what is conventional, or possible, or what it appropriate. One way or the other I am going to lead my own life, and for better or worse.
