May 21, 2009 – Hot, finally.  The dogs of Bedlam Farm love to hang out together, and yes they do seem to be smiling more these days. Some of you have suggest that this might be because I seem happier these days…Hmmm. I’ll have to mull that one.
Frieda seems delighted to have joined the pack, and although she and Rose keep away from one another, they are both getting more comfortable with each other. Frieda hasn’t run off or tried to eat anything in nearly a week.
We are cranking up our library campaign. Hope Bodwell says she would love to have Izzy and I come to the Monson, Mass. Public Library, which she calls “the best little library ever” to help raise money and stave off some Draconian budget cuts.
Tonight (Friday), Izzy and I will be at the West Pawlet, Vt. Public Library at 7 p.m. to talk and answer questions. I’ve got about a dozen requests from other libraries in need, but can’t take on too many more. I have a novel to write, a children’s book, and a book tour coming up. Not to mention a farm and four dogs.
I am getting a strong response to the daily dog portrait and I have to say I’m liking it myself. Hay coming in the morning, hopefully. Then I will be set for the winter. Maria and I looked at the ewes today and at least four are “bagging up,” which suggests they are pregnant. Could be an exciting summer. Got to get my lambing kit.
