Izzy and a friend in Katonah, after the signing
May 4, 2009 – Mary Kellogg re-visited her hometown, Katonah, N.Y., at the town’s Public Library and Izzy and I came to join in and cheer her along. As usual, she drew a great and loving crowd and read from her current book, “My Place On Earth,” and also from some poems from her next book, due out later this year. This gathering was special, as it included some of her family and many of her friends. Mary is always wonderful – lively, gracious and compelling – and so is Izzy, who can really work a room and connect with people.
Izzy spent hours in the truck, and greeted just about every one of the 75 people who came to see Mary. He does whatever he is asked to do.
The visit to the beautiful Katonah Library was a pleasure, the first of three library visits I’m making this month to talk about my work and also to support libraries, whose budgets are being slashed all over the country. At 7 p.m., Tuesday May 12th, Izzy and I (and Mary Kellogg too) will be at the Saratoga Springs Public Library (518 584-7860) to talk about companion animals in America, and my next book, “Soul Of A Dog,” out from Villard in August. Come by if you can.
