April 28, 2009 – Cloudy, light rain, cooler. The farmers are already saying we need rain, and it isn’t even May yet. They are right. After months of snow and ice, the ground is dry. The farm is quiet, settled. We are moving firewood, hauling manure for Maria’s vegetable garden, clearing brush from the pastures. If I’ve learned one thing from being on the farm, it’s that you have to keep up, and you almost never can. I hope to order first cut hay this week.
