March 20, 2009 – Sometimes as a photographer, I just feel lucky. This afternoon, elated by the return of my frost-free thawed water pipe to the barn, I took a big lens (135mm) out with me to do the afternoon chores – feeding the sheep and donkeys and checking on the chickens and barn cats – and when I went into the big barn to check the hay, I happened to look up. That morning, in the same spot and different light, I didn’t even see the spider web.
The afternoon light was coming right through behind the web, which was between me and the barn window. I barely had to move to get this shot, although I did have trouble with glare and spots. Got it, though, and it was there waiting for me and I could just feel it.
