Frieda, Writing Dog

by Jon Katz

Frieda is a holy terror. She goes after people, dogs, rabbits, chipmunks, deer and trucks. Quite excitable. In her third month of training, she is showing signs of mellowing, at least by Frieda standards. She went after a mouse or mole today and dug a hole in the back big enough to sink a truck in.
When I write, I love to have dogs around, sighing and dozing.  Frieda can be with Lenore and Izzy, but she and Rose still lock eyes and challenge each other. We are moving slowly. But she is showing all the signs of being a good writing dog and now is at ease when the computer is on. She has a great sigh. And she burps.
