Cindy, Pine Grove Diner, Granville, N.Y.

by Jon Katz

I’ve added a bright new routine to my life, breakfast several times a week at the Pine Grove Diner in Granville, owned and run by Cindy who is always smiling, even at 6 a.m., and who makes good and fresh coffee, and whose homemade baked bread is stellar. Usually I meet my friend Drew Rozell, a fascinating man who is a writer, philosopher and a professional lifecoach. We have a great time talking and share a lot of views about life, including the belief that lives lived in fear are rarely happy, and that people who try and do what they love often can.

On January 31st, from 1 to 3 p.m., Izzy and Lenore and I will be at Union Village on Main Street in Greenwich, N.Y., along with Mary Kellogg the poet, Maria Heinrich, the fiber artist, Corinna Aldrich the photographer and others to spend some time encouraging art, selling quilts and photos and brightening up the winter. Come by if you’re sick of winter, or if you just want to cuddle with Lenore, which she is always happy to do. Also, “Out Of The Shadows” is out any day now, and can be pre-ordered from The Troy Bookmakers.
