December 7, 2008 – Rose returned to work today with her usual purposefulness and joy. I forgot how hard it is to get a dog that smart to take her pills (she has three kinds of pills to take). I use  Cheesit-It, stick them in peanut butter, even chicken sausage, and she eats the food and spits out the pills. She is a tough dog to fool. Eventually, I end up just forcing them down her throat.
  It is bitter cold and the ground is covered in ice and snow, but this does not bother her. I’m under instructions to take it easy with her, but it’s hard to do.
