November 30, 2008 – Got a snow and ice storm going, the first of the winter. Can’t wait to start on my next book tomorrow, and got the truck in the barn, the four-wheeler out back, the tractor in the shed, dumped extra hay in the goat pen and feeders, and I thought back to my first winter on the farm, alone in one blizzard after another. It’s a sweet feeling to get all the animals fed and give the dogs a good run, and load up the wood stove and start reading. Today, I spent most of the day alone, walking, thinking, food shopping, taking care of my dogs, a friend’s dog, the animals. I like having two donkeys, rather than four, I can spend time with them more easily and enjoy them.
Tonight is nasty. I have the pleasure of not going anywhere. I got to Kinney Road this afternoon and want to post a series about friendship.
