November 27, 2008 – Izzy and I visited the Alzheimer’s/Dementia unit of Marion’s nursing home today, and it was a powerful reminder about the notion of giving thanks. Marion gives thanks for Izzy whenever she sees him, and he returns the favor. I took some of my favorite Hospice photos yet this afternoon, fueled perhaps by the emotion in the nursing home on this day. Many of the patients were out visiting families, and Marion’s family had spent much of the day with her. I brought pies and tonights for the amazing nurses, whose cheerfulness and energy never fail to surprise me.
  I will post some of these photos tonight and tomorrow. I think they are special, and they remind me to have perspective, to cherish and appreciate my life, to see love and find happiness and fulfillment.
