Lenore and Izzy and I are preparing for the book tour for “Izzy & Lenore: Two Dogs, An Unexpected Journey, and Me,” out September 23 from Random House. Lenore is the cover girl, and she is ready to go forth and meet her admirers, and spread her message of love. She will also look for food. Lenore’s message: love me, feed me.
The book is generating a lot of publicity, and the tour is going to be intense. I am looking forward to it. Much as I love the farm, this is a small world out here, and I am ready to get into the bigger one, meet people who read my books and e-mail me, order breakfast from room service – I love that – and see some neat parts of the country – Nebraska, Texas, lots of others.
I am eager to get out there and spread the message of hospice, and also the message of dogs – helping humans to live their lives, as they have helped me live mine. Going to NYC next week for some interviews. It’s heating up. My space here is about to be invaded, and shaken up. This is difficult, but this is good. Mix it up, make me think. I have, just in the nick of time, finished, “Rose & The Souls of Dogs,” scheduled for next Spring, also by Random House.
