Life creeps in

by Jon Katz

Farms are sensitive to seasons, for obvious reasons. Each season has its own life, rythyms, cost and routines. Fall is important, not only because it is beautiful, but because it is a reminder that we have to prepare for winter. Hooves need to be trimmed, hay put in the barns, wood stacked and moved, holes filled, fences patched.
Life moves, and creeps in, and it doesn’t really announce itself, but you just look up and it is there, staring you in the face. Another season.
I took a whole day off from photo-taking yesterday, sort of. Back at it now.
