Sheep

by Jon Katz

August 20, 2008 – I don’t ever want to be like sheep. I can’t say I even like them much, although Annie loves them. Once a week, all summer, we have crowded the sheep into a pen with the help of Rose, and Annie has crawled around in mud and rain and muck and treated the infection called Pizzle Rot. She has gotten bumped and butted and cut and covered in crud.
Let me be honest – I am serious about saying what I mean – if Annie were not around, those infected sheep would have a very different fate, and we both know it. But that is the thing about Annie. Her love and ferocious work ethic and great friendship are almost impossible to deny.

Notes. We have added a new flash photo sequence to the transitions on the site. I like it. I will post the winning photos at the fair, although I am sorry to say I have been so swamped in work and other details that I haven’t gotten back. I am behind in my hospice work, and that may push the fair farther back. But I hope to get there soon.
