Maria’s works, hanging in the studio barn, where Mother the cat now hangs out.
August 18, 2008 – Congratulations and much love to Maria Heinrich, an artist and dear friend, who today launched a powerful and creative signal to the world by starting her business and putting up her website, yesnoquilts.com Maria, an artist and the editor of Bedlam Farm Books, is a close friend, and she and Mary Kellogg and I have formed a mutual creative encouragement pact, supporting one another in our art and creative life – poetry, fiberworks and Maria’s other art, and my writing and photography. Without Mary and Maria, I would not be a photographer and one of the richest parts of my life would have remained stillborn.
Maria works out of my studio barn, in exchange for which she helps me with farm chores and animal care when Annie is off or busy. I am happy to have taken the photos that grace her stylish website, partly designed by her husband Bill, a former ad executive and now a restorers of old and valuable buildings.
Maria is offering a number of works for sale, and you can see them on her site, and e-mail her directly. Maria is great in every respect, and it is a gift to her taking her art and her life to another level.
Just about every day, Maria has told me that my photos are worthwhile, and encouraged me to keep going. I try to do the same for her, and for Mary, although these two dynamic artists don’t need all that much encouragement. I am no expert, but Maria’s quilts are beautiful, an expression of color, light, style and emotion. I have purchased some for friends, family and sometimes, for hospice patients. She is very gifted, and I am thrilled to be calling attention to her work, and her website. Like Mary, like me, Maria is sending a thrilling signal to the world that she and her work is important, and it will enter the world and make its way. Good luck, Maria, you are the best, a thoroughly admirable human being and gifted artist. I know our work will live and thrive in the world.
