Working in hospice, I often feel the point is simply to pay attention to lives that are worth noting, to say, for the record, that it is worthwhile to pay attention, to mark a passage. To say to Marion, your story is important, and I am here to tell it, and send your signal to the world. Perhaps this is one reason that I allowed myself to be a photographer as well as a writer. It tells another part of the story, and brings it to life.
