August 11, 2008 – The Hound of Love is one year old today, and it is hard to believe this amazing creature has been in my life that long. It was a bit of a bleak period when she came, and she lit up my life with love and warmth, and I am grateful to her, and love her back, dearly. She does not tolerate sadness and self-absorption. Nor does she comprehend rejection and coldness. She has transformed some of my life and the farm, and everywhere she goes, she radiates good feelings, smile, and love for all things. She is young yet, and her great potential is ahead of her, and I commit myself to giving her the life she deserves, and to appreciating her. So do the many people in hospice and elsewhere who know and love her.
 And today, I will give her the gift she most wants and appreciates – a big, juicy meat bone. Happy Birthday, Love Dog. You are the Light.
