June 26, 2008 –Who brings light and love to every space she inhabits, including and especially Bedlam Farm.
The farmhouse is now recovered from the lightning storm, washers, dryers, computers, appliances, phones in order. The car is being replaced Saturday by a new black Toyota Tacoma pickup, hardy, good on gas.
I have to be candid, the strike took a toll on me, curtailing my writing, life and Hospice work, and requiring endless trips to malls, calls on the phone, visits by repair people. Annie was a hero, helping me each day to put the house back in order. I thank her. I am weary, in body and soul.
I’ve been thinking a lot about fear lately, and how crippling it can be to people, how it is a barrier, a space one has to cross to live life. A friend told me recently that I was fearless, and I was amazed. Not so, I said ruefully. Fear is a cold and clammy hand that is always on me, and every good and meaningful step I have taken in life has come despite fear, and is a victory over it.
