Each morning, Lenore and Mother the Barn Cat take a stroll together, another of the creatures the Love Hound has won over.
May 31, 2008 – I was in the Studio Barn yesterday with Maria (Heinrich) and got my first look at her amazing new quilt, the Mother Quilt, made in honor of Mother the Barn cat and includes, written in hand, the entire text of the famous Pablo Neruda quilt “Ode To A Cat,” which Maria always reads to Mother when Mother visits her in cold nights in the studio and sits by the fire. I will sneak in later and get a photo of this quilt, which is pretty remarkable. It is for sale ([email protected]) and will be shown at Gardenworks on June 8, at 2 p.m. at Hospice Journal: Stories from the Edge of Life.
I will talk about my Hospice work, Lenore and Izzy will be on hand, and we are showing about a dozen pictures from the Hospice Journal.
We’ve decided not to offer any of the photos for sale, even to benefit Hospice. We just aren’t quite comfortable with it, although focuses of the dogs only might be sold to benefit Hospice.
Anyway, this quilt will fly once it goes on sale. I can’t believe she put the entire text and script of the poem into that quilt. That is art, and Maria is an artist through and through.
