Lenore is sampling a fly for Eric
May 15, 2008 – Good afternoon from Lenore, the Hound of Love, who is undertaking new works on behalf of love through the miracle of modern technology, and photography.
This photo is for Eric, who is 10 years old, and who is a huge fan of Elvis, my steer, as well as Lenore. Eric is undergoing brain surgery today and we are thinking of him, and Lenore sends messages of encouragement from her big heart. We are pulling for you, Eric, and rooting for you, and understanding the pain you will be in, and all of the animals here will look forward to your feeling better, and seeing their pictures when you wake up tonight, courtesy of the laptop being hooked up in your Boston hospital room.
Lenore is a magical hound, as you cannot help but smile when you look at her, and in this way, she spreads love. So when you wake up tonight, you will look at her and perhaps be smiling, and we will eagerly await your e-mail telling us you are a wake and okay.
Elvis also sends greetings and was concerned when I told him of your surgery. He didn’t lose his appetite much, Eric, but is thinking of you nonetheless.
It was a curious day in this way. Apart from the messages from Eric and his parents, I also got a message from Erika, fresh out of surgery herself, and who had a close call, and who wrote that her husband “brought in a laptop fo me and the Bedlam Farm photographs have kept my spirits so much higher than they would have been otherwise – unbelievably so.”
Erika says when she saw the photos I posted of the three dogs yesterday, “on my first day home, I felt the smile break out all over my face.” And two or three more like it. That made me think a bit.
So go Erika, and Eric, and dogs, and this is yet another great reason to have them, another part of the great work dogs do for us, and why we love them so much.
And another reason to love taking photos as well. Signals to the world.
